At LMM, we are deeply grateful for our long-standing partnership with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a congregation that truly embodies its mission to “Grow in Faith, Serve in Love, Live in Peace.”
From providing hot meals at the Men’s Shelter to supporting workforce development through the Metro45 food truck, Prince of Peace continues to walk alongside individuals experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and crisis. Their innovative ministries and unwavering support of youth in service make a lasting impact, not only on the people we serve, but on the next generation of compassionate leaders.
What about LMM interests the church? Is it a specific program, area of service, or population, and why?
Prince of Peace has been involved for many years with the Men’s Shelter on Lakeside Ave. Each year our Youth Group helps raise money to provide hot meals at the shelter. We have also recently begun booking the LMM food truck, Metro45, for events at the church to further support LMM’s programming of workforce development.
What aspects of the church’s mission, vision, or ministry align with our work at LMM?

In what ways does your ministry support people in the community experiencing difficulties or in crisis?
One of the immediate responses Prince of Peace provides is to address food insecurity. We have both an indoor and outdoor food pantry that is available to anyone experiencing hunger. The pantries are stocked with non-perishables weekly and surplus donations are taken to Second Harvest Food Pantry. Prince of Peace maintains a goal of providing 2,500 pounds of donated non-perishables annually to Second Harvest.
A newer ministry that Prince of Peace has adopted is called “Supporting a Community with Kindness – S.A.C.K.”. This ministry collects hand knit and crochet pouches that hold donated bars of soap. These serve as all-in-one bar soap wash cloths and are then provided to local domestic violence shelters in Cleveland.
How are your members and leadership supporting the next generation/young people of faith to walk in service to others?
Prince of Peace leadership and congregation members are extremely supportive of our Christian Education and Youth programming. Children and Youth are surveyed at the beginning of the year to share what topics are important to them. The Christian Ed and Youth Leader then come together, with the assistance of church council, to plan service projects and learning events. Some of 2024 and 2025’s events have included: volunteering at the Cleveland Kid’s Book Bank, hand-making toys for animal shelters, creating a butterfly garden, enrolled in Rust Belt Riders Composting program and educational event, interfaith and cross cultural experience of Holy Week Alfombra making with La Sagrada Familia Parish, and many more.
Most notably, our congregation came together to generously cover the cost for three young adults and three staff chaperones to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans, July 2024. This event is the single most impactful experience for our high schoolers as they are able to deepen their faith alongside other youth, hear from world class leaders/speakers, and celebrate their beliefs through worship in a stadium of other Lutherans.
