New Community Bible Fellowship (NCBF) is dedicated to serving and transforming lives through the power of Jesus Christ. With a strong commitment to justice, advocacy, and support for vulnerable populations, NCBF’s mission aligns seamlessly with the work of LMM in Cleveland. Through initiatives such as Make Cleveland Better and their annual outreach to LMM’s Men’s Shelter, NCBF actively demonstrates its faith by addressing both the physical and spiritual needs of the community.
This profile highlights the impactful collaboration between NCBF and LMM, bringing hope, dignity, and lasting change to those facing adversity while also empowering the next generation of leaders.
What about LMM interests the church? Is it a specific program, area of service, or population, and why?
Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) is a living reflection of our church’s mission to “change lives through the power of Jesus Christ.” As followers of Christ, we are called to stand in the gap for the oppressed, forgotten, and hurting—just as Jesus did. Our faith is not passive; it compels us to action, bringing hope where there is despair and shining light in the darkness (Matthew 25:35-36). LMM embodies this call, providing more than just services—they offer dignity, advocacy, and the opportunity for true transformation.
Through its work in housing and shelter, workforce development, guardianship, and youth resiliency, LMM reflects God’s heart for justice and mercy. As Scripture reminds us: “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness… to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house?” (Isaiah 58:6-7).
Founded in response to urban unrest, LMM remains deeply committed to justice and reconciliation—values our church holds dear. We believe faith must be lived out in action. By supporting LMM, we are not only addressing critical needs but also fulfilling our mission to transform lives through both practical solutions and the power of Jesus Christ.
What aspects of the church’s mission, vision, or ministry align with our work at LMM?
New Community Bible Fellowship’s mission is to change lives through the power of Jesus Christ, and our vision for 2025 is to reach others with His love beyond the walls of our church. This vision aligns with the impactful work of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM), which serves those in need, advocates for justice, and provides hope and transformation in our community.
Our shared commitment to caring for others reflects God’s heart for the vulnerable. As Proverbs 19:17 reminds us, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” Likewise, Matthew 25:40 declares, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
By coming alongside LMM, we extend Christ’s love in tangible ways—meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in our city. Together, we are not only serving people but also fulfilling God’s call to be His hands and feet in the world.

In what ways does your ministry support people in the community experiencing difficulties and adversity?
One of the ways we follow Christ’s model of caring for those facing challenges in our community is through our initiative, Make Cleveland Better. Established in 2015, this initiative was created to support those in our community who are carrying burdens too heavy to bear alone. Through Make Cleveland Better, we provide financial support and volunteers to local nonprofits that are leading the way in building programs that strengthen and uplift our city.
We believe that serving others is a direct reflection of God’s love and His command for us to care for those in need. Proverbs 19:17 reminds us, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” Our ministry embraces this call by partnering with organizations that are making a tangible impact in the lives of individuals and families.
One cherished tradition at New Community, which has spanned decades, is our annual outreach to the LMM Men’s Shelter every December. Through this outreach, we provide meals and minister to men experiencing homelessness, reminding them that they are not forgotten—that God sees them, loves them, and cares for them. It is a sacred opportunity for us to be the hands and feet of Jesus, demonstrating His compassion in a practical way.
As Matthew 25:35-36 teaches, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” We are honored to live out this Scripture, serving God’s people with love and humility.
In what ways does your ministry support people in the community experiencing difficulties and adversity?
We are committed to raising up the next generation to walk in faith and serve others, following the example of Christ. One of the ways we do this is through our mentorship programs for teen boys and girls, where they are poured into by members of our community who invest in their spiritual and personal growth. These programs provide guidance, encouragement, and practical wisdom, helping our young people develop into godly, strong leaders who serve with integrity and purpose.
Additionally, we create intentional service opportunities for our teens to put their faith into action. Whether through community clean-up projects, serving our senior members, or extending care to those in need, our young people actively learn the heart of Jesus by serving others. These experiences allow them to see firsthand the impact of love in action, shaping them into compassionate and responsible disciples.
These are just a few examples of how we are raising up the next generation to see lives transformed through the power of Jesus Christ.
