Corporate Partner Spotlight: Eaton Corp.

At LMM, we are constantly inspired by the organizations and individuals who go above and beyond to support our mission. Eaton Corporation is one such partner whose commitment to making a meaningful difference in the community is deeply woven into their culture. For Eaton, volunteering goes far beyond fulfilling a duty—it’s about creating real, lasting impact in the lives of others.

This kind of corporate support is essential for LMM, as it helps us create opportunities for those in need, offering hope and empowerment. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to speak with Courtney Reese, Eaton’s Community Affairs Specialist, to learn more about what drives their ongoing support for LMM and why corporate partnerships like theirs are so vital to our work.

What sparked Eaton’s interest in volunteering at the Men’s Shelter?

At Eaton, our employees are driven by the desire to make a tangible difference in the community. Volunteering is more than just fulfilling a duty or a checkbox; it is about making a real impact and enhancing the lives of others. This commitment to community improvement is what drives our employees to volunteer at the Men’s Shelter.

Can you share any memorable moments or experiences your employees had volunteering for LMM?

Our employees have experienced profound connections while volunteering at the shelter, particularly during one-on-one sessions where they assisted men in creating resumes and offer letters. Many of the men were unaware of their rights and choices in their career paths. “I can choose to apply to there??” they say….The realization that they could choose their job or career was eye-opening for them! Helping these men recognize their worth and value was a deeply memorable experience for our employees.

How do you think Eaton’s culture supports their communities?

Eaton fosters a culture of teamwork, where every role, from janitor to CEO, is valued and essential for success. This collective mindset underlines the importance of each individual’s contribution to the overall success of our initiatives. By instilling this sense of unity and cooperation, Eaton supports communities by demonstrating that it takes all of us to make a difference, starting with each individual’s efforts.

Can you share a personal story or experience that shows the power of corporate philanthropy or why it’s important to your organization?

On my birthday, I rallied my family and friends to join me in supporting the community at LMM by serving hot meals to the unhoused. I chose to do this on my birthday because, instead of receiving gifts, I wanted to encourage my loved ones to gift me their volunteer time to support the community. This personal act, done outside of corporate and business hours, highlights the power of one person’s commitment to making a difference and how it can inspire others to join in creating positive change.

What values do you look for in the organizations your company partners with, and how does LMM align with those values?

This year, Eaton has adopted three giving pillars:

1) enhancing our communities

2) preserving and restoring the environment

3) building the talent pipeline.

LMM aligns with our values by focusing on enhancing our community and building the talent pipeline. Additionally, Eaton is a proud supporter of second chance hiring, believing that everyone deserves another opportunity for a fulfilling and happy life.

What advice would you give to other companies looking to get more involved in corporate social responsibility and supporting non-profits?

Do it! When organizing team bonding events, consider replacing dinners and drinks with community service activities. This shift allows people to feel fulfilled and excited about supporting the community. We are greater when we all come together.
