Youth Employment Program Print E-mail

The Youth Employment Program of Support To At-Risk Teens (START) is a ministry for out-of-school youth ages 16-21. The mission of START is “to promote healing through Christian service and advocacy with youth who are hurting, displaced and forgotten.” YEP has provided individualized instruction and a creative learning environment focused on issues relevant to youth since 1997. Its mission is to assist the entrance of youth ages 16-21 into the world of work by offering basic education, job readiness training, self-sufficiency skills and job placement. YEP collaborates with two other agencies to form the Youth One-Stop Center that successfully helps over 160 youth annually. The One-Stop Center is able to access all the services that youth need to move out of poverty and become successful citizens.

The program is committed to best practices in positive youth development and trains staff accordingly.

In 2005, YEP came back to its beginnings by working with juvenile offenders in a demonstration project with local community providers involved in the Cuyahoga County Community Collaborative for Employment Services for Youth Offenders.
