“When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? …I tell you the truth, whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:39-40

The Friend to Friend program recruits, trains and coordinates volunteers to visit men and women in prison.

Attention men! There are men in the prisons in Grafton, south of I-480 in Lorain County, that need you to reach out and visit them. Attention women! There are women at Northeast Pre-Release Center near downtown Cleveland who need your friendship and encouragement. You can be God’s love to people incarcerated in Cleveland area state prisons who are not getting visits and need a friend. A half day a month is all the time it takes.

The Friend-To-Friend Program invites you to be matched with someone in prison to visit once a month. Inmate participants are screened. Volunteer training and staff support are provided. You need not give your friend your home address. You’re not asked to do anything you don’t already know how to do; just be a friend to someone who needs one.

Friend-To-Friend volunteers find this service a way to live out their faith. They also discover that, by providing this kind of direct help to people in need, they provide a valuable service to the community and the justice system. Finally, it is personally rewarding to know you’re making a difference in someone’s life.
