After School Prevention Resources (ASPR) is an out of school time program for teens ages 11-17. ASPR follows best practices in youth development. The program seeks to identify and reduce the factors that place adolescents at high risk for engaging in delinquent behavior and/or using alcohol and other drugs and to enhance resiliency factors to reduce the likelihood of these behaviors. With 70% of juvenile crime occurring between 3 p.m. and early evening, ASPR provides a timely, safe and supportive place for teens until their parents come home from work.
ASPR offers a varied program that includes music, art, computers, recreation, drug, alcohol and health education, conflict management and a comprehensive, cultural enrichment and self-esteem building program called Rites of Passage. In addition ASPR provides opportunities for service learning in the community. Located at
