After School Prevention Resources (ASPR) provides an after-school program for teens ages 11-17. ASPR seeks to identify and reduce the factors that place adolescents at high risk for engaging in delinquent behavior and/or using alcohol and other drugs; and to enhance resiliency factors to reduce the likelihood of these behaviors. With 70% of juvenile crime occuring between 3 p.m. and early evening, ASPR provides a timely, safe and supportive place for teens until their parents come home from work.
ASPR offers a varied program that includes music, art, computers, recreation, drug, alcohol and health education, conflict management and a comprehensive, cultural enrichment and self-esteem building program called Rites of Passage. Located at St. Paul's Community Church, W. 45th and Franklin in Ohio City, ASPR is open Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. throughout the year.
Partners: U.S. Department of Justice/Cuyahoga County Department of Justice Affairs and St. Paul's Community Church, United Church of Christ.
