An innovative partnership between LMM, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and the Cuyahoga County Office of Re-Entry, the “Chopping for Change” program provides significant work experience and training for women in the criminal justice system that empowers them to re-join the labor force. In addition to work experience and culinary training, participants arrive at LMM’s Richard Sering Center and receive supplemental services, including counseling and case management, designed to facilitate their re-entry experience and decrease recidivism. These important skills and services delivered so that Chopping for Change participants are positioned for success at the time of their release.

Malika Poole is currently the Chopping for Change program supervisor, having overcome personal and professional barriers since her incarceration ended. She is now using her experience to teach the Chopping for Change participants that there's hope for a brighter future if you obtain job skills and stay on the right path.
